Access to private properties

HBOC members are permitted to access some areas of privately-owned land for birdwatching purposes. The access details are explained below. Access-permission is only for members of HBOC and you should have your current membership card with you so that you can produce it if challenged by a representative of the property owner. If you are unable to demonstrate that you are an HBOC member, penalties may apply.

Hexham Swamp

Although Hexham Swamp is part of a national park, access to the area involves passing through land owned by Austrac and by Hunter Water. On weekends and at night, the entry gate often is locked. The lock operates using a pass-code, which is available to members and is included on your membership card.

Minimbah

This site is on land owned by MidCoast Council, associated with their Nabiac water bore project. Below is a map showing the relevant area.
